Who was Enzo Ferrari:

The owner of a globe-iconic sports car brand owner Enzo was born on February 20 1998 in Modena Italy. Enzo Ferrari was 10 years old when he saw his first car race in 1908. That inflame a passion for car racing. He was assigned by the Italian army in World War 1. After the war, it was a hard time for Enzo to find a job in the auto business. He was rejected by FIAT due to the abundance of employees in the company. He started to work at a small auto workshop.

In the early 1920s, Enzo was hired by Alfa Romeo as a race car test driver. That was the time when his journey began to start. Here he got a chance to work with legendary racers of the twenties like Tazio Nuvolari. 

Scuderia Ferrari team:

After 9 years of struggles, Enzo launched a car race team named “Scuderia Ferrari” or “Ferrari Team”. At that time there was no car company owned by Enzo Ferrari or his team, Scuderia was a team consisting of drivers who drove their own cars in a race.

The team mostly used Alfas cars. By 1933 Enzo was positioned as the Director of the Alfa racing division and now the team owned some of the best drivers of the time.

In 1937, he was positioned as the head of the Alfa Romeo Company racing operation Alfa Corse. Initially, he was not happy with this position. When Ferrari launched its first car:

In 1939, he left Alfa Romeo, and one week after his resignation, Enzo Ferrari was motivated to turn his dream into reality and started to work on his first-ever car Auto Avio Costruzioni. The AAC 815 was the first car they built on their own.

In 1940, AAC built two 815 cars but Enzo was prohibited from naming his car due to a non-compete employee agreement between Enzo Ferrari and his previous company. Also, he was restricted from using the name Ferrari in any racing activity for at least four years.

Due to WW II Ferrari was restricted to reducing its activities but in 1945 as the war ended his company got back to work, strengthened its team, and introduced the V12 engine which would be Ferrari’s signature engine.

In 1947, the company launched a new car 125-S which was the first car that carried the name Ferrari after the completion of period of a non-compete agreement with Alfa Romeo. 

When does Ferrari sell its first cars?

In the early 40s, a successful car racer Luigi Chinetti approached Ferrari with a proposal to manufacture sports cars for the public. But Enzo was confused because they launched his company’s main initiative was to win races. At that time company was manufacturing cars for only private consumers.

Luigi started racing and won many races in Ferrari cars making it more famous around the world. In the 1950s, Luigi got his first as he wanted and he opened his showroom in America after getting a Ferrari First dealership. The USA become a huge market. In 1969, when there was the worst time for the company Enzo sold his company 50% shares to FIAT the company that once declined to offer him a job.

Enzo died on August 14 1988 at the age of 90 years. Before his passing, he signed a signature car F40 on the 40th anniversary of his company.
